As Chapman Law Group’s business development analyst, Douglas creates and maintains engaging, strategic content for current and future firm clients, via SEO, digital marketing and social media. He coordinates with the firm’s practice group leaders on new and developing matters in health care law, particularly in the compliance, criminal, and regulatory fields.
Doug has devoted his 30-year career to writing, editing and community engagement, with an emphasis on the legal profession. For nearly 10 years, Doug served as associate editor and digital editor for Michigan Lawyers Weekly, the Great Lakes State’s premier legal profession publication. In his capacity, he wrote and reported on legal trends and the business of law; analyzed state and federal appellate court decisions; and coordinated special sections and reference guides, including “Michigan’s Largest Law Firms” and “Million-Dollar Verdicts & Settlements.” Doug also was a content specialist and marketing team member at Michigan Auto Law.
Prior to concentrating on writing within the legal arena, Doug focused on editing, news and feature writing, page designing, and special editorial projects at daily newspapers — among them, The Oakland Press (Pontiac, Michigan), The Journal Star (Peoria, Illinois), Sun Publications (Naperville, Illinois), and The Beacon-News (Aurora, Illinois).
Doug earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Wayne State University in Detroit, where he served as editor-in-chief of The South End, Wayne State’s student-run newspaper.
