Primary issue:
Our client, Highland Park, Michigan-based beauty supply store owner, entered into a transaction to sell his property and his business. Litigation ensued between the purchasing party and their intended business partners. Because the suit was filed using the client’s old business address, client was never notified about the suit. Plaintiff’s attorney obtained a $100,000 default judgment against client and was just a few days away from having it entered into the court.
Argument:
Plaintiff improperly served client and did not do their due diligence by having the suit filed using the old address.
Result:
Our business litigation attorneys were able to get the $100,000 default judgment set aside and to have the client removed from the lawsuit completely.
