Client physician was wrongfully reported to the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) by a hospital, following loss of contract by a physician group, which led to automatic termination of all group members’ hospital staff privileges. Client was on a focused professional practice evaluation (FPPE) at the time, which required proctoring but was not required to obtain prior approval for procedures and should not have a reportable event to NPDB.
Our Michigan healthcare regulatory and licensing lawyers filed with the NPDB Dispute Resolution and engaged hospital counsel in lengthy negotiations, which ultimately led to the hospital’s voiding of the NPDB report.
